Hip hop is a subculture and fine art movement developed by African-Americans[1] and Latinos[2] from the South Bronx in NEW YORK during the later 1970s. This is later associated with "rapping" or "MCing", a rhythmic style of chanting or speaking poetry/lyrics, and beatboxing, a percussive vocal technique used to create beats to go along with an MC or rappers' rhymes.[citation needed] An original form of dance called breakdancing, which later became associated with popping, locking and other dance moves, that was done to the accompaniment of hip hop songs played on boom containers and particular styles of hip hop dress and scalp also developed.
